5.04 Cognitive FM - Saving Your Sanity in a Foreign Land

Wednesday, April 3, 2013
2:15 PM-3:15 PM
Track: Change Management
Format: Case Study
Organization: IFMA
Knowledge Level: 300 level
Session Description: The global facility management market is rapidly shrinking into a microcosm of global synchronicities. With it comes opportunities abounding as developing nations search and seek out FM professionals from developed nations to help and assist.

The idea of individuals with specialized business expertise travelling to distant lands is certainly not new; but perhaps being proactive in increasing our cultural sensitivity may be the necessity for effective work relationships.

During this session we will examine the proactive measures to be taken both personally and professionally.

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the day in which we "live."
  • Grow in awareness, relevance and importance of Cultural Intelligence.
  • Challenge existing assumptions both within and around oneself.
  • Understand the art of communicating across various language bases.
  •     Conference Proceedings

        Presentation
