Session Description: The 2011 Global FM International Workshop will tackle the topic “The New Economy…The Right Time, The Right Place for FM”.  Facility Management experts from across the globe will share their insight based on how this topic is affecting them in their region of the world. The panel discussion will be followed by an optional follow discussion from 9 a.m.-10 a.m.

Philip Lo is the CEO of Lexco Ltd., one of the first Facility Management Consultancy in Asia. With over 20 years of experience as a professional architect he has designed and completed many projects ranging from corporate interiors to award winning office buildings. He was one of the first certified facility managers (CFM) in Asia and has introduced the FM profession to various countries in the Asia Pacific Region.Mr Lo established the Hong Kong Chapter of the International Facility Management Association ( IFMA ) and served as its founding president. He also served on the International Board of Directors as the Regional VP for Asia. He was honored by both IFMA and the Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management (HKIFM) as an Honorary Fellow for his contribution to the profession in Asia. Mr. Lo’s profession practice focuses on FM services consultancy, technology and training. In recent years, Mr. Lo has expanded his practice to China, now with 4 offices in different cities in China. Aside from his professional practice, Mr. Lo also teaches Degree courses in several Universities.

Susanna Caravatti-Felchlin

Susanna M. Caravatti-Felchlin is a Board Member of the Swiss Association for Facility Management & Maintenance FMPRO since 2004. She is Director of the company UBS in Zurich, Switzerland. Since 2008 Susanna M. Caravatti-Felchlin has been working as a service manager in the department of design and construction. Her business areas are corporate real estate and administrative services. Ms. Caravatti-Felchlin holds a MBA and a master of science in real estate.

Teena Shouse, CFM, IFMA Fellow, has more than 25 years of experience in service-related fields, predominately facility management. Her primary expertise includes project management, business process improvement, sustainability, staff development, outsourced contract governance, capital planning and budgeting. Before joining FEA, she held the position of vice president of strategic partnerships with ARAMARK, overseeing collaborative strategies. Prior to ARAMARK, Teena was the general manager of employee services at Sprint for 18 years. She was part of the design and construction team that researched, planned and built the 4.2 million sq. ft. campus in Overland Park, Kan. As GM, she was involved in all aspects of campus operations, from day-to-day operations to sustainability strategies. She creates and teaches FM and sustainability courses for IFMA and FEA, and is a guest speaker at numerous North American and international conferences and universities. From 2005 to 2007, she served as the chairman of the IFMA board of directors. She currently serves as the chair of Global FM board of directors, a global federation of FM organizations based in Brussels, Belgium.

Ondrej Strup is a Partner of the Czech branch of the international FM/RM consulting company Hein Consulting Group and carries out activities of an independent consultant in the field of facility management. Since April 2011 he has been the President of the IFMA Czech Republic Chapter. He also occupied this position between 1999 and 2002. He founded in 2010 the company FM Institute, which focuses exclusively on education, conference and research activities in the area of Facility Management. Mr Strup is also very much involved with the Czech Office for Standards and different Committees preparing standards for the FM sector. He is an author of several publications and co-author of three different books. He holds regular seminars and training courses. Ondrej Strup is a member of Society for Environmental Technology and IFMA. He has won several awards of IFMA, IFMA CZ. He has also received accreditation from the Czech Ministry of Education for Certificate Education Facility managers.

His facility management career spans over 35 years as General Manager - Facilities with Bell Canada in Toronto. He is also a director with Nedcorp Private Limited of Toronto, Armsterdam and Hong Kong involved with humanitarian projects worldwide. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences because of his insightful observations and brilliant presentations on topics such as Facility Management, Creativity, Innovation and Leadership. He has lectured and presented in Sweden, France, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, India, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Macao, the Philippines, Trinidad & Tobago, Mauritius, Canada and the United States. He has taught graduate level classes on design, leadership, outsourcing and facility management at The University of Hong Kong, The Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, Baptist University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the Inner Mongolia Normal University. He developed and taught the course Operations & Maintenance at The University of Manitoba’s masters program in FM; and Facility Project Management course at the Ryerson University in Toronto. He serves on the Advisory Board of Canadian Facility Management + Design magazine and the Executive Board of SoChange, an Canadian organization focusing on social justice and improvement for south-east asia.
